I finally got the HD powder that everyone has been raving about. People just seem to LOVE this stuff and compare it to higher end brands. I got it in translucent, but it also comes in shimmer and corrective yellow. I snagged it on Amazon for the retail price but avoided e.l.f.'s shipping by doing the super saver shipping and buying some other stuff, including the e.l.f. mineral primer which I will be reviewing sometime soon. :) You can see what I think of it after the jump!
First off, the packaging looks like that of a more high end brand. It's matte black and a lot larger than I thought it was going to be. You unscrew the top and find a cute little powder puff. I've been using the puff to pat it on my face over my Revlon Colorstay foundation and it works just fine but it does stain the puff. I just ordered a Coastal Scents flat top kabuki brush so I might update this if it makes a huge difference.
The product itself is white and so so so soft. The powder is so ultra fine.
I've heard with e.l.f. it's a hit or miss with their products. I can safely say that their HD powder is a definite hit. I love this stuff. I've been using it everyday since I received it. It does just as the description says it does. My face looks almost airbrushed and it lasts all day. I did my makeup around 8 this morning and it is now 5 and my face still looks fresh. Keep in mind, it also rained and I'm a college student running around campus all day! I have oily/combo skin and when I wear this, my face looks so soft and uniform. I was wary that this might make my face look really powdery or make my dry cheeks look even more dry. No. It looks like your face is on soft focus. I am seriously in love with this.
Now, I wouldn't recommend this to everyone because I've heard that if you have darker skin, the powder will make your face look like it has a white cast to it. If you're fair or medium skinned, though, I could not recommend this enough. It is literally powdered photoshop. I will definitely be buying this again when I run out and hope that you will give it a try!
